Redundancy Alert (High Positive Correlation)
These strategy pairs are highly correlated (r > 0.70). Running both increases drawdown risk without offering diversification benefits. Consider selecting only the best-performing one.
- No high positive correlations found.
Hedging & Diversification Pairs (Negative Correlation)
These strategy pairs exhibit negative or low correlation (r < -0.10). When one experiences a drawdown, the other is likely rising or flat. They form excellent diversification partners.
- No negative correlations found.

MetaTrader 5 Backtest Export Guide
To analyze and compare multiple trading strategies or optimization settings, you must export their equity and balance curves over identical timeframes. Follow the steps below:
Define a Uniform Testing Period
In the MT5 Strategy Tester, ensure the Date range (Start Date and End Date) is exactly the same for all EAs and configurations you plan to compare. Running tests on different periods will skew the correlation metrics.
Run the Single Backtest
Select your Expert Advisor (EA), symbol, and settings, then click Start to run a single backtest. Wait for the backtest to complete fully.
Export Graph Data to CSV
Go to the Graph tab at the bottom of the MT5 workspace. Right-click anywhere on the equity curve chart, and select Export to CSV. Save the file with a descriptive name (e.g., EA_Name_EURUSD.csv).
Repeat and Load
Repeat the steps for each EA or parameter set. Drag and drop all the exported CSV files into the analyzer drop zone to view the correlation heatmap and combined drawdowns.
